Top 10 Signs You're Over The School Year

June the 23rd can't come quick enough. That's the last day of school for my boys. I know I'll come to regret my wish eventually, but for know, I'm counting down the days (9 days to go!). Here's why:

  1. Bed times. For the first three quarters of the school year (ok, maybe the first half!), I'm all about that bed time life. Come June, it all flies out the window. How do you expect me to put my boys to bed at a decent hour when it's still borderline light out?
  2. Proper school attire. What's wrong with wearing basketball shorts and a wrinkly shirt to school every day? At least it's clean!
  3. Keep in touch parents. I'm all for a good play date. But, chances are if we haven't had a play date during the school year, we won't have one during the Summer. I'm not a day care center. We'll see you next year. Enjoy!
  4. Well rounded breakfasts. School day breakfasts consist of cereal, bagels, muffins or something to that affect. Non-school day breakfasts are a free for all until mama wakes up. A little potato chips in the morning never hurt anyone, did they?
  5. End of school year festivities. I love volunteering at the boys' school. Always have, always will. But please remember that I have three of them. I'm not burning all of my vacation time to attend every single party. Sorry! Sending in goodies is my other way of "volunteering".
  6. Running low on supplies. We may have about 4 crayons, 3 markers, and half of a glue stick left. Scissors? No son, just tear it with your hands. I refuse to shop for anymore school supplies until September.
  7. Homework. Just stop. Please. I don't even know what day of the week it is anymore. I sure as heck can't  help No. 1 figure out equations.
  8. Friday folders. Really? Another stack of papers to sit on my kitchen table until the next time I Windex it.
  9. You can't wait for Spring sports to end. Once they do, our crazy schedules slow down...just a bit...until August. Then it's football time!
  10. LUNCHES!!! If I have to pack another lunch, I may just go crazy. Seriously, what's wrong with school lunches? It might not be so bad if everyone could just like the same type of friggin' sandwich, but nope. Not my boys. No. 1 eats a jelly sandwich, No. 2 a bologna sandwich, and No. 3 eats a half a turkey sandwich. Ugh!

Stay tuned for "Top 10 Signs You're Over Summer Break". I'm sure it'll be here before we know it!

10 Signs You're Probably Married to a Football Coach

  1. You see your child's school binder laying on the kitchen table. As you begin to yell out "Didn't I ask you to clean up after yourself?", you realize it isn't theirs after all- it's your husband's play book. The one written in a language only him and his players understand!
  2. Your husband's cell phone is constantly alerting him of a new text. Don't worry. He's not cheating on you, Mama. He's texting back and forth with his assistant coaches about this Saturday's game. It'll slow down at the end of the season, I promise!
  3. What?? Your husband is doing the dishes without even being asked? Nah, he's just making space in the sink to sterilize his team's water bottles.
  4. You can't fit a single grocery bag in the trunk of your SUV. Duh! It's filled with footballs, shoulder pads, tackling dummies, and water bottles.
  5. You bought your SUV exclusively for the third row. How else can your husband transport half of the team to and from practices?
  6. Your brand new SUV will smell like a portable locker room. Quick. It's okay. Nothing a little Febreze and cracked windows can't fix. I recommend waiting until after the season ends, of course!
  7. The kids are in bed and your husband turns on the television. Don't get too excited Mama, he's not putting on your favorite show. He's about to study film from yesterday's game. Ha!
  8. You are constantly sweeping up what appears to be rodent droppings. No need to call pest control! They're just "turf turds"- you know, those little black pieces of synthetic turf.
  9. Your fireplace mantle serves as not only a place for your beautifully and strategically placed pieces of décor, but for your husband's championship game runners-up trophy as well. I have to admit. I kind of like it there.
  10. You suddenly become Mama to an entire team of boys and you absolutely LOVE IT!!!
