Team Mama Idea: Team Spirit Shoes

Hey there, Sports Mamas! I hope you all are well. I'm in the middle of college football season, so life is... busy! In the span of 4 weeks, I've been to Louisiana, Buffalo, Connecticut, and PA. We have a bye this weekend which gives me a couple days to relax... and write this quick blog post for you!

You all already know that I'm a loud, proud, team reppin' football mama! One of the ways I've been repping my #8 lately is with my shoes.

Idea No.1: Crocs with allll the charms

Start off by purchasing a pair of Crocs in your team color. Then find the charms (I ordered on Etsy and also found a stand in my local mall)! From letters to numbers to balls... the choices are endless! The more, the cuter!!

Idea No.2: Add your athlete's number to your favorite pair of kicks

I found these cute, self-adhesive number patches at Target for about $2 each! SCORE!!! I received SO many compliments on them... easiest DIY ever!

Idea No.3: Customized Nikes

And finally, I customized my very own pair of Nike Dunks! From the color of the soles to the laces, I got to choose every single detail. And you already know that I wasn't going to pass up on the chance to add text! I added my boys' initials as well as No.1's jersey number. They were definitely a bit of a splurge, but I am so happy with how they turned out!

Team Mama Idea: DIY Big Head Cutouts!

Homecoming 2018 is in the books! I still can't believe I'm the mama of a high schooler. Crazy! It was such a fun week. There were spirit days (i.e. Jet Lag Monday aka pajama day, Peace Out Wednesday aka tie-dye day), a pep rally, a parade, the game (we WON!), and the big dance, of course!


No. 1 and his Freshman football teammates marched in the parade alongside their class float and the cheerleaders. Us mamas wanted to do something special to catch their attention, so we made our own big heads!

They were quite simple to make and only a fraction of the cost of the ones they sell online. Want to make one to cheer on your favorite athlete? Just keep on reading!

All you need:

• Cardboard (I found mine at my local craft store)
• Scissors or X-Acto Knife
• Glue
• Large photo of your athlete (Most stores with photo departments can print them in under an hour. Don't forget to check for a coupon! For reference, my photo is a 20X30.)
• Optional: mounting stick

All you do:

1. Glue your photo to the cardboard. (I started with a glue stick but ended up switching to liquid glue.)
2. Allow the glue to dry.
3. Cut "the head" out.
4. Cheer on your athlete!

The team loved them! They all clapped, cheered, and pointed as they walked by.

Us Frosh mamas were definitely the most spirited (and noticeable!) ones there! But you don't have to have a high schooler to make one. Take a look at these proud JMU mamas cheering on their boys. Go Spartans! Go Dukes!

Sports Mama Review: isplack Colored Eye Black

I love supporting my boys and their teams in any and every way possible! From attending each and every game to being team mom to wearing their team colors- I try to do it all.  Nail polish, shirts, hats, jewelry... if it comes in their colors, I probably have it!


Colored eye black is one of my absolute favorite ways to show my team spirit. It's quick, easy, and inexpensive. Not all eye black is created equal, so isplack is the way I go.

Weekend Snapshots: Getting My Artsy Fartsy On!

Over the last week, I've managed to get a few arts and crafts done despite having to work full time, chauffer the boys back and forth to both football and soccer practices, nurse No. 2's ankle back to health, deal with a nasty stomach bug of my own (ugh!), not to mention every other thing us mamas do on a daily basis.


I made two shirts. Well, I didn't literally make them. I purchased rhinestone transfers from Etsy and ironed them on.


I made a football shirt.

And a soccer shirt!

Bling bling, baby! Quick shipping, great quality, and super easy to do. I absolutely LOVE how they came out!


I also gave some of my old cowbells a little makeover.

My original plan was to get rid of them since we changed clubs this season and have new colors. Then I remembered that I had a can of orange spray paint sitting around. Seriously, is there anything a little spray paint (and glitter tape!) can't fix?!? I can't wait to give them to some of my new football mama friends!

Sports Mama Review: Football Ties Vinyl Nail Decals

I recently purchased football nail decals from Etsy.com. I spotted them on Pinterest last year, and had been eyeing them ever since! Shop owner CutecraftycreationUT says "Do you want a salon looking manicure in the comfort of your home? Look no further! These nail decals make a cute manicure in no time! Just paint your nails the desired color, wait for them to dry, apply nail decal and add a top coat!".

For $4 you receive a sheet of 78 ties. I ordered them on a Monday, and received them two days later. Talk about fast shipping!

They came with easy to follow application instructions.

I began by painting my nails first (base coat + 2 coats of color). I made sure that they were completely dry before proceeding with the decals. I then placed one decal on each nail. A few times the positioning was off, so I had to quickly remove and reposition them. I found that using a pair of nail scissors was the easiest way to do this. Out of the four that I repositioned, only one was damaged. Once all of the decals had been placed, I sealed them with a layer of top coat.

Seriously, how cute are they??? I received so many compliments while wearing them!


They lasted a solid three days before beginning to peel. I'm pretty sure they would have lasted longer had I applied more than one layer of top coat. It's all good with me though. I didn't plan on wearing them an entire week anyway!


I've already recommended this product to some my favorite mamas. They are definitely a product all football mamas should have in their spirit stash! I mean, have you tried drawing football laces on your nails freehand before? I have. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy!
